Paper-cut (paper-cutting,papercut) are chiefly used as decoration. They ornament walls, windows, doors, columns, mirrors, lamps and lanterns in homes and are also used for decoration on presents. Paper cut is one of China's most popular folk-arts with a long history. Its origin can be dated back to the Han dynasty (206 B.C.-221 A.D.) when Cai Lun invented the paper. Paper-cut are used for religious purposes, and decoration as well.
